OLT Primary Sports Competition Update

During the Autumn term we held the first two events of the OLT annual Primary PE competition. This competition is just one part of the Trust plan to improve performance standards in PE and to increase participation amongst our pupils.

On 18th October five of our schools competed in the Y1/Y2 cross country event held at Ravenswood Primary. Benton Park Primary emerged as overall champions, helped  by their fantastic results in the Y1 boys race where they took 4 of the top 5 places. The full results were as follows:

Year 1 Boys: Team winners - Benton Park Primary, individual winner - Daniel, Benton Park Primary

Year 1 Girls: Team winners - Cragside Primary, individual winner - Rosa, Ravenswood Primary

Year 2 Boys: Team winners - West Jesmond Primary, individual winner - Frankie - Christ Church CE

Year 2 Girls: Team winners - Benton Park Primary, individual winner - Poppy, Benton Park Primary

On 8th November, Heaton Manor School hosted the Y3/Y4 Quicksticks hockey event. We are very grateful to Heaton Manor for the use of their facilities and thanks must also go to the students from TyneMet college who officiated in all the games. We could not stage an event on this scale without this support. Thirteen teams from all seven primary schools took part, with two separate pools of matches played.

Pool A was won by Christ Church CE Primary with Ravenswood Primary runners up and Benton Park in third place. Pool B was won by Cragside Primary, Chillingham Road took second place and Christ Church took third.

Congratulations to all the pupils that took part in these events.
